The Montana Nursery & Landscape Association (MNLA) publishes a revised
version of the certification manual originally published by the Idaho Nursery
Association. The revised manual is recommended as a study guide for nursery and
landscape professionals interested in pursuing the MNLAs Certified Plant
Professional (CPP) examination. The revised version is more suitable to the
climate and industry practices in Montana and includes updates and additions
based upon changes in nursery practices since the original manual was published.
For most individuals seeking certification, the manual is an essential part
of preparation, but the manual is also an excellent general resource for retail
garden centers, landscape design and maintenance companies. The manual is a
particularly helpful tool for educating and training employees who have little
or no prior experience in the industry. The manual includes the following chapters: Basic Soil Concepts Additionally, the following publications are included as a part of the new manual: Common Insect Pests and Diseases of Ornamental Trees and Shrubs. A full color 13-page booklet pulished by the Ohio Nursery and Landscape Association that includes numerous photographs with descriptions. Trees and Shrubs in Montana. A 74-page black and white booklet with photographs, drawings, and tips on identifying trees and shrubs common to Montana. Published by the Montana State University Extension Service.
